I already have diabetes. When does this policy start paying for it?

Treatment for a condition you already had is payable once you have held the policy for 36 months without a break.

  • This covers anything you were diagnosed with, or treated for, before the policy started — and problems that follow directly from it.
  • Without a break means each renewal goes through before the previous year runs out. A lapse of a few days can restart the count.
  • Anything unrelated to that condition is unaffected by this wait.
Only you can answer this

Is this your first health policy, or did you move to it from an earlier one? Months already completed elsewhere may count towards the 36.

What kind of hospital room can I take without paying the difference myself?

Your room limit is set by your cover amount, not by a fixed rupee figure.

  • At ₹5 lakh and ₹7.5 lakh cover, room charges are paid up to 1% of the cover amount a day — ₹5,000 a day on a ₹5 lakh cover.
  • From the higher cover amounts upward, a single private room is paid without that daily ceiling.
  • Suites and above sit outside the room benefit at every cover amount.
  • Hospitals often price surgeon and theatre charges by room category, so moving up costs more than the room line alone.
Only you can answer this

Which cover amount is printed on your policy schedule? That one figure settles the room question for you.

My policy started three weeks ago and I need to be admitted now. Will it pay?

Admissions for illness are not payable in the first 30 days, but accidents are covered from day one.

  • The 30 days run from when the policy first began, not from your latest renewal.
  • They apply once only, provided you renew without a gap.
  • This is separate from the longer waits for pre-existing conditions and for certain named treatments.
Only you can answer this

Is the admission recorded as an illness or as an injury from an accident? That one detail decides it.

Ask about your own situation

Describe what is happening in your own words. The answer comes only from the published Star Health Assure document, and will say which part it came from.

No sign-in needed to read the page — only to ask.

BimaSahai explains what the document says. It will not tell you which policy to buy, and it does not judge any decision you or your agent have already made.
